Suppliers
All drink suppliers need a container approval for each unique eligible drink container they supply in NSW and/or the ACT. It is unlawful to supply beverage containers that are eligible for the scheme but have not been approved by the relevant body, and penalties may apply.

In NSW, container approvals are issued by NSW EPA. You will need to create a new account on the EPA’s NSW Container Approval Portal to apply for container approval. Once you have an account, you will be able to apply for approvals for eligible beverage containers that you supply in NSW. You will need your Supply Arrangement Number (SAN) to complete your application for approval. NSW EPA will review your form and issue a container approval number for each beverage container/barcode.
Only once you have received container approval can you commence supplying your beverage containers.
